Neopets This game is greedy and owned by transphobes please do not give them money, its also extremely laggy without an adblocker because they have SO MANY ads <\3 This game is one of the oldest virtual pet sites thats still active, you can get Neopets, paint them different colours, dress them up, play flash games, and become very greedy and capitalistic. I do not play retail Neopets, I play Neopets Classic now which is a remake of older Neopets, there is (not yet) a list of Neopets fansites that you can play instead under this list
Neopets Classic Recreation of pre-customisation Neopets, I LOVE this site a lot, there is ZERO paid content due to it being a fan site and no ads also. It has most of the flash games from this era of Neopets, all pets from this era + EVEN MORE PETS they have a bunch of pets made for Neopets Classic and most have amazing designs, the example pet im using is one it is a Usukigirl Kougra. Theres a bunch to do on here and its also very customizable, you can customize the html and css of your profile, your pets profiles, your shop, & your gallery
Webkinz Classic my favorite virtual pet game (not just browser based ones, in general) You get a starter pet and are able to buy more by either buying a plush with an unused code or by buying one from the estore with a paid currency. Webkinz main concept is that you buy plushes and use a code to get that animal in the game, however Webkinz Classic plushes have been discontinued for a while so you cant really do that without paying a lot for most pets sadly. You get to play mini games, dress up your pets, feed them and care for them, and decorate your pets rooms. Webkinz Classic was originally a browser game but had to become downloaded after flash shut down, however you actually CAN play it on browsers again, they arent done fully with the new browser version of it so its buggy, but it works
Flight Rising Game where you collect, breed, dress up (sometimes), and battle dragons. You can buy dragons from other players and you can breed two of your dragons every few days to get more, some types of dragons can be dressed up but a lot, those being any ancient breeds, cannot. You can battle dragons in the colleseum and buy them different abilities to make them stronger. Theres lots of little activities you can do and a few games you can play to get more treasure, which is the non-paid currency on this site. You can also very quickly get a lot of the paid currency for free through achievements and selling items and dragons to other people.
Ovipets Not too much of a site around taking care of pets, more so focused on collecting and breeding pets. It is very greedy you cant sell pets without having already bought credits before so you cant make any credits without paying. When you breed your pets you get one egg and have to turn it every day for a few days until it hatches, you can breed male pets any amount pet day and female pets once per day. What I like in this game is hatching the eggs it is fun okay i like gambling the animals. I also like the adoption center, people can put pets they dont want into it and you get to adopt one every few minutes, most are really ugly but theres some really cute pets that end up in there. Theres also rare things people can hunt for like pures, which are when you get a pet who has a colour that is maximum saturation.
Snooezelings You have to pay or get a free code if you want to play this game because it is in early access, I got my code through a giveaway on the discord. This game is very con-competetive and is supposed to be focused on self care. You can collect Snoozelings which are little stuffed animals, you can adopt Snoozelings or you can create a completely new one. When you make Snoozelings you can choose any two whos owners allow inspiration to make a Snoozeling that has traits from either one of them, its pretty much breeding the animals but theyre stuffed animals so its inspiration. There isnt any currency that can be traded between players in this game and no two sided trading system, you also get rewarded for being nice to people here. You can craft dyes to change colours of items that your Snoozelings can wear and you can get fabrics and stains to change colours on your Snoozeling.
Pawbrorough This is less of a virtual pet game than the others, you manage a group of cats i think, this game only launched open beta very recently and i havent had any time to get into it so i dont fully know what happens here sorry okay im so evil

Grundos Cafe Pre-customisation Neopets remake with a big focus in its community on making pet overlays I think. You cannot make an account without a refferal code and I have never had an account here so I dont really know too much
Modern Neopets Pre-customisation Neopets remake, currently you cant sign up for a new account, I have never played this neopets before so i dont know much. They have Varwolfs and they also have custom paint brushes that arent in retail Neopets
